Dear Rachel,

I forgot to tell you about this, but yesterday I was in the Cannon Center and they had out on their dessert section "Pride of Iowa Cookies". Needless to say, I had to try one. I was looking forward to a delightful corn cookie, however I was disappointed. Silly me, for thinking the pride of Iowa was corn! Crazy Rebekah. Turns out that Iowa's pride is actually coconut, oatmeal, chopped nuts, raisins, and chocolate chips. DUH! Mmmmm....tastes like Iowan soil.

I love studying because its soooo much fun! I love studying! I want to go to the library everyday! My mommy says that that's ok! I love studying because it's soooo much fun! I love studying.

It's 2 in the freaking morning. Ballet class is NOT worth this. Especially since I got an email today from my teacher asking us to bring back all of our graded assignments because she forgot to record the grades. Guess who threw them all away already! Yours truly. Also, only a few will get the song in the beginning of this miserable post. Sorry. I'm not too crazy, trust me.

Christmas pics

My roommates and some other girls in our hall took some pictures this week. Here are a few of them. Of course at least one girl had to do something stupid in each picture, which is kind of annoying, but whatever. Well, there you go.

life or something

I am currently sitting in Amenities and we just made a sale. Wahoo!! It was about 50 buckaroonies too! Anyway, I'm bored, so here's what's going on with my life.

1. Boyfran??? Nah, not really. There's this guy that I like who I'm sort of dating as in we've gone on like 4 official dates and have hung out a lot and we hold hands occasionally now but I'm not sure if we'll really be boyfriend/girlfriend since he's going on a misson winter semester so he'll only be here for like 3 more weeks. Whatever. His name's Evan and he's from Kentucky. The boys would definitely approve since he like a carbon copy of all of them because he loves shooting and hunting and bow hunting but also love motorcycles and used to race and he likes to workout. Did I do a pretty good job or what??

2. I'm home for Thanksgiving now, thank goodness for a break! I'm so sick of school. I'd be willing to give up like half a week of summer vacation for an occasional 3 day weekend, golly byu.

3. I think I'm just going to make a christmas layout for the blog. I've been really busy for the past 2 weeks so I haven't had time to make stuff. I've got a lot of photoshopping to catch up on, I'm supposed to make like 3 different things and just haven't had time.

4. Ok, that's it. I don't have anything else to say. BYE.

Flashback to 3th grade...

Someone down the hall from me is practicing the recorder. That's right. The recorder. Does that stupid thing even count as an instrument? Oh the upside, she's almost as good as Dwight K. Schrute.

p.s. I'm working on a thanksgiving background but I'm just not happy with it. I'm trying, I swear! Maybe I'll just have to skip thanksgiving and go straight to a winter background.

GETTIN' AGGRESSIVE.

...passively.

(This really isn't as long of a post as it seems!)

The Field girls aren't exactly know for being fighters. Don't get me wrong, we've got the ol' Dave Field NY Yankee spirit in us and it sure can come out in the form of witty and biting sarcastic comments, but at least in my case those comments don't usually come when I'm actually angry at someone. Typically, when people are jerks to me, I tend to take it like a man....aka, I shut up and say, "Ok, sorry." like a big wussy baby.

So here's the scoop: my roommates aren't the nicest girls in the whole world, I find them insanely bratty. I do like Hallie, so by roommates I mostly mean my two suite mates Jennifer and Natalie and the two girls across the hall, Maddie and Mindy. I don't want to bore you with all the stories of them being jerks to me, but for the sake of example here's a story. I get blamed for EVERYTHING. Two nights ago.,Jennifer took a shower and for some reason took the bathmat out with her. I took my shower after her and when I got out of the bathroom there was the shower mat (which I provided for the room by the way) outside the door. I left some water on the floor, but not a ton. I was supposed to meet some friends so I get dressed and go. When I come back Jennifer comes into my room and says, "I don't know about you, but usually people close the curtain when they take a shower." and she adds how I left SOOO much hair in the shower, it was disgusting. Yep, she singularly blamed me for the hair left in the shower used by 4 girls. Later that night when I went into the bathroom to pee the bathmat was still lying outside the door and in it's place on the floor was the white towel that I just washed and hung up in the bathroom. Apparently, people showered after me and didn't wash their feet very well because it is now brown and strangely yellow in one spot. Also, I was also accused of leaving hair in JENNIFER AND NATALIE'S sink, which I have never once used. This sounds so petty and stupid now that I write it out, but trust me, combined with so many other experiences, it really gets frustrating.

I told Rachel about a lot of the crap that these girls have been giving me and she said it was time to "get passive-aggressive on their butts." Rachel had her fair share of mean roommates too and because we suck at confronting people her reaction was to do stuff like hide their food. I've always listened to my sister's advice and when I don't I tend to regret it!

All the girls but me leave their shower stuff on the little shelf in the shower and their stuff has been there since day 1. I have my stuff in a little plastic basket that I take in and out of the shower every time. I took Rachel's advice tonight. My hair is getting darker so I used Hallie's Pantene Pro-V Just for Blonde's shampoo. The dry air is giving me dandruff so I employed Natalie's Head and Shoulders. And after I used Jennifer's Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Wash about 2 pounds of the stuff found it's way down the drain along with her Bath and Body Works body wash (why does she need two??), and her Herbal Essences conditioner. My hair now is blonde, shiny, and dandruff free and my skin's never been more moisturized!!

Is being passive-aggressive, as Rachel put it, the "universally acknowledged worst way to handle things"? Yep. Was it satisfying? Yes, ma'am. Will dad not like this and give me a talking to next time I see him? Possibly (hi dad!). Will mom make the infamous "mom noise"? You betcha! Will I be getting passive-aggressive on their butts again? Ohhhhh yes.

p.s. this is my 100th post! as promised a new background will be coming soon.

Schenectady High School, the Public Harvard

Burnt Hills was on the top 1,300 high schools in America list again, which is pretty elite. Grapevine high was like 121 I think, just fyi. But anyway, I really don't know how Burnt Hills is so good. It just doesn't make sense. Here's an article from this summer about Schenectady High School, which is 10 minutes away, being put on the 19 worst high schools in New York list. Keep in mind that this includes all the high schools in like Harlem too. Anyway, I think the article is a riot. Maybe no one else will think that it's funny except for mom, dad, and Rachel, but it sure cracks me and Michael up! Here's the link to the article. If you don't want to read the whole thing here are some of my favorite parts:

  • about them being put on the list--"the city’s Board of Education called “an outrage, irresponsible and reckless.”"
  • "Schenectady is the only school from the Capital Region on the list. Sixteen are from New York City."
  • About the 20 year long list of statistics--"“We do not believe it reflects the truth of Schenectady High School,” Ely said, adding that the data are a year old." HahahhHAhaha
  • I love that he thinks this is like an excuse, showing that it's not dangerous at all--"Ely said that in context, 29 knives found from among 2,700 students over 180 days is not bad. There were 12 fights during that same period, Ely said." Hahahha...that's just one year.
  • After the long list of violence statistics including 30 total incidents of weapons possession, 21 incidents of possession or sale of drugs, 2,031 disruptive incidents, and 2 sex offenses the Board of Education says, "'I also have two children that attend Schenectady High and two that have graduated from it to college,' he said in a statement. 'I am intimately familiar with that school. If it was even slightly dangerous, my children, my flesh and blood, would not be there.'”
Hahahaha. I think that is so good. I'm been posting like a madwoman lately so don't forget to read my other new posts below!!

Just some stuff....

1. I didn't make the dance auditions. I'm not too terribly upset about it cause I always have another chance next year and possibly the year after that. Plus, I want to be a graphic design major too so if I don't get into the dance major ever I'm fine with having it as a minor. I just kind of don't know what to think. Did I just plain not do good? Is it because I'm a freshman and sophomores have priority? Is it because I don't know any full time faculty members (the judges)? Who knows. Maybe I'll be able to judge a little bit when I find out how the other freshman girls in some of my classes did.

2. I filled up a gas tank for the first time!!! It was a big moment. I did just dandy!! The gas station right by Helaman was 2.87 so I just couldn't resist. But there were such long lines that I think I might have burned more gas waiting than I used driving around for the past 3 weeks.

3. I got 1 dollar away from overdrafting on my debit card today. I had forgotten that I got cash when I ran to walmart the other night so I thought I had like 30 bucks on my card and only had about ten. That motivated me to keep a little better track :)

4. I lost my ID card wed. night and went without one for a while but finally sucked it up and went and bought one today so I could get into the game. Then I just found it tonight. Sweeeeet.

5. I got proposed to by Cosmo at the soccer game tonight. It was fun. Picture will come soon!!

6. I went to the Haunted Forest in American Fork tonight with a couple of people. It was really really fun and fairly scary. Not going to lie, got some hand holding action. WHOOOAAAA.

eh, that's all.

Faith, please!!

PRAY FOR ME BECAUSE I HAVE MY DANCE MAJOR AUDITION TOMORROW! AHHHHH!!!! I start at 10:30 and go till who knows when. Anyway, use your extreme righteousness and faith everyone, because mine probably won't cut it, haha! I don't like competing against all mormons because you all know they're praying for the same thing too. LOVE ME MORE PLEASE, GOD. Thanks, love you all!!!

dood.

So I've been meaning to make a post forever but I now I can't remember what I wanted to say, haha! Let's see....I got a job at the mtc. I serve food :) It's only 3 days a week for 3 hours so it's pretty easy. I work with Jared Gulisane from Albany, so that's kind of funny. Hey Rachel, he talks about you a lot, I think he may have had a little baby crush once :). Yep, it's fine.
My date number is now up to 9, it'll be 10 tomorrow, hot dang!
I kind of go through mood swings here, like I'm depressed and lonely and want to go home 50% of the time and then I'll be ok later. I think it depends on if I'm sufficiently distracted or not. Oh dear.
My phone stopped working randomly 2 days ago. I got service one minute and the next I had zero bars and then I didn't get service for 2 days. Then when I asked to borrow my roommate's phone to call mom and tmobile she was like, "have you tried turning it off?" and so I turned it off and then back on and it worked fine! It was so weird.
Haha, nothing too much going on. I can't really think of anything else to say. SO for your viewing pleasure:

oh, ps, I don't mind country music as much anymore which SERIOUSLY WORRIES me!! AHHH.

blog overload!!!!!!!

So I know that I've had like 203945823084 posts in the last month but I really felt that this deserved a spot on my blog :) So remember that kid Jeremy that is slightly obsessed with me from my last post? So I just saw him like 15 minutes ago and got trapped into possibly the most awkward conversation of my life. It's a pretty long story so I'm just going to post the conversation I had with my friend Michael about it. Enjoy. NOTE: none of this is exaggerated, in fact I think I may be missing a few fun conversation points, but what can you do.

me: ohhhh man

I just had the most awkward conversation of my LIFE
7:15 PM Michael: Oh no!
me: ooohhh yes.
So you know that kid Jeremy that's like in love with me?
Michael: Yess
me: so I see him
and he was just talking to me
and he and his friends were talking about the "friend zone"
and he turns to me and was like
7:16 PM "How do I get out of the friend zone? Do I need to be taller? Have a deeper voice?"
And I was like "uhhh...I don't know"
And then later he was like "I saw you with your date"
And I was like "That wasn't my date, that was like my 1 friend here"
and he's like, "Well, then what am I?"
7:17 PM And I go "you're my friend too"
Michael: Oh nooooo
me: And he points to this random guy and was like "is he your friend?"
And I say "I don't even know him"
And he introduces us and then asks "now are you friends?"
And I say "we're acquaintances I guess"
7:18 PM And he goes, "How to do you go from acquaintance to friend to MORE than friend"
And I was like, "uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...that's getting pretty philosophical"
7:19 PM and then later in the convo
this kid I know walks past and he's pretty cute but I'm too distracted by how stupid he is to think he's cute and so he walks past and I say, "hey austin"
And Jeremy does this big sigh and is like, "I could see you dating someone perfect like him becuase you're perfect"
7:20 PM And I was like "I couldn't because that guy is a retard"
And jeremy GRABS my both my hands and says, "you have just made my day."
And I was like "uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmm"
7:21 PM and so finally after like 10 minutes of this awkward convo I say that I'm going to leave and start walking away and jeremy yells, "oh by the way has anyone told you that you look gorgeous today?"
And I was like, "Noooo, but thanks"
and then I walk away and laugh for a while :)
Michael: And you thought rapists only existed in Schenectady
7:22 PM hahahaha
me: oh he's not a rapist
Michael: I neeeed to meet this kid

blehhh.

This is a long and pathetic post. I put it in bright colors to try and entice you into reading it. You really don't have to.

Is something wrong with me? Am I social awkward? Do I have some weird deformity? Do I have some weird awkward social deformity? Because everything seems to point to yes.

So I saw my old boyfriend at the RB pool tonight when I was swimming with my friends David and Cole. No, this isn't the first time I've seen him, but he made all my previous assumptions pretty clear when he saw me there tonight. So I think we actually need a rewind here to make this make sense. So the second time I saw him was at lunch one day and he and his friend came over and sat with us. I wasn't too happy about this but whatever. So he sits there all through lunch and barely says anything. It was so weird and I felt so awkward trying to make all the conversation between us and his friend who I've never even met. And even when his friend leaves to go get something he doesn't say anything. I make like a second's worth of conversation and then go and get a drink. I spent half my time during that lunch going and getting food and other stuff that I didn't even intend to eat just to get away from that table. To make it even better these two flirty girls come and sit with us. Kill me please. So finally I announce that I'm done and leave.

Ok, back to tonight. So Cole and David and I are swimming and diving off the high dive and stuff and about 10 minutes before we leave who else would come in with a big group of guys and a girl who I believe to be his girlfriend from this summer (I don't think they're dating anymore). He actually saw me first and was like "Heyyy." and then proceeded to ignore me for the rest of the time we were there. The only time he said another word to me (if it was even a word, maybe just a grunt of acknowledgment) when he asked what time it was and I said 9. Seriously though, if you saw someone that you knew, and knew fairly well, wouldn't you go and talk to them or even say more than "heyyy". It was just so weird. But don't get me wrong, this post isn't about adam and I'm definitely not implying that I want to date him again. Although it would be nice to have him like me again so I can shut him down, quite honestly.

So then I get back to my dorm and who else is there but Reuben. Ohhh dear. So we talk for a little bit and that at least wasn't terribly awkward and at least he didn't ignore me. Oh, I forgot, I haven't posted about the Reuben experience so you'll just have to ask me about that one, it's funny AND horribly embarrassing!! Here's a clue in: worst. date. ever. But anyway, Reuben shows no interest in me, and I don't care that HE as is Reuben himself doesn't show interest, but I wish he had just so that a cute normal boy would show interest.

So now the real point of this very long post: why don't normal guys like me? I had always thought that I was fairly attractive. I have always thought that I dress nicely and groom myself well. I wear deodorant everyday, I brush my teeth, I shower quite often as well. Am I not as cute as I had thought? Am I really socially awkward? I feel like I don't know how to judge myself anymore, or at least I feel like I have no idea how other people view me. Do I think that I am someone completely different than everyone else thinks I am? Does this make any sense at all? I just wish someone would show interest in me other than this kid

or Jeremy who everytime I see is all, "Rebekah! I love you Rebekah!" or "Rebekah! You looks so good today Rebekah!" or "Rebekah! Give me a high five!" or maybe even "Rebekah! Isn't it a lovely loving I-love-you sort of day!?!" (so Jeremy didn't actually say that last one, but the other two, not so much...if you think that I jest just look around my facebook profile).

You probably think that I'm joking. I'm not. Those are two completely truthful examples. Yyyeeeppp. This is one of those pathetic posts that I will probably delete within an hour of posting it. But everyone out there who gets to read this post before I delete it please tell me this: do you think I'm weird or socially awkward? Tell me the full truth because right now I really don't know what to think. Maybe I should just start hanging out with Bradley Clarke. We could be a good pair.

(this is for michael: could you please write a dbq analyzing my opening statement? thanks.)

Livin' the Suite Life

So this is mostly for Rachel's benefit because pretty much everyone who looks at my blog is close enough to come see it, but whatever. So here it it, my "suite":

This is my side of the bedroom. Notice the falling down pictures and newspaper clippings. They only allow sticky tack, tape is strictly forbidden!! But the problem is nothing sticks with sticky tack...

This is the bathroom.

This is my ample closet. Do you think that much space was really necessary, BYU???

Yep. It's like living in a mansion. :)

All of my mother's hopes and dreams

This was on my camera and I know mom wanted to post it but I don't know if she ever downloaded it, but here it is, it's pretty funny.

Sunday, September 7, 2008

A title goes here.

So here's just some random updates about life here at the Y, with accompanying pictures!!

1. I have now been on tv during both the football and soccer games. Pretty sweet!! First i was on tv while we crowd surfed Cosmo. It was fairly awesome. He jumped into the crowd and me and my across-the-hall-mate Maddie were the ones to put him back over the wall. He was literally pretty much all on us for a couple of seconds and a few nearby guys chipped in as we promptly began to drop him. He weighs a freaking ton. Melissa Maughan got this picture here. Notice Cosmo and I are making eye contact. I'm pretty sure the guy in there is thinking "Ah crap, look at these two skinny girls coming up."

We were on tv for soccer because we made these signs for my roommate Hallie who is on the soccer team. She is actually on the bench though because she tore her acl in the first game, which really stinks, but we made the signs anyway. I guess we were the ones with the most spirit there. Maddie's mom called us up to say that she saw us on tv yelling with our signs. Sweet.

2. I've done some fun stuff lately. I've gone to 2 bonfires, one with my roommates and one for a ward activity. They were both up Provo canyon. I also made good friends with Cole Seaton from Connecticut, he's a cool kid. I've gone to a few dances and other stuff too, but nothing too exciting. Here's a picture with me and my roommates at the bonfire and then me and Cole and these two other guys I'm friends with named Andrew and David. We had obviously just gone to Krispy Kreme. Oh, and I am perfectly coving up David in the picture. Whoops.

Ok from left to right: Hallie (my actual roommate), Jennifer (suitemate, aka, has the bedroom on the other side of our shared bathroom), ME, Maddie (friend from across the hall), girl I don't know. MISSING: Natalie (other suitemate, Jennifer's roommate), and Mindy (across the hall, Maddie's roommate)

3. I went to stake conference in the Marriot Center today. It was a good time. There was some older guy, definitely RM, who was sitting next to me who hit on me, HA. He told me I was a "very beautiful girl" to which I replied, "Uh...thanks." There was also a very excited female speaker with a VERY large smile and bright baby blue cardigan. "And I felt SO happy as I butter basted my rolls!"

4. Matt and Amy came to visit! It was fun. All other siblings should follow suite.

5. And, by popular demand, that boy that I thought would ask me out. Well he did. We were going to go to the Bean museum (dorky, I know) but it was closed so we went to Jamba Juice and just hung out and looked at the BYU Indian Princesses and other corny stuff. It was pretty fun. I think he'll ask me out again. I'm not really sure if I'm actually interested in him or if I just like have a cute, normal guy like me. Oh, and I suppose you'll want details. His name is Reuben, he is pretty tall, like at least 6 feet, brown hair, fairly skinny, and I know him actually from EFY last summer. You may request any other questions.

Annnnnddd...that's all I really have to say! I'll post pictures of my dorm later, I'm just to lazy to take some :)

Oh yeah, one last thing! 6. I did my first load of laundry ALL BY MYSELF. I believe this means that I am now truly independent. Go me!

Tuesday, September 2, 2008

Brigham Young University, located in Provo, Utah, is a private, coeducational university owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

So I am at the Y. It's niiiice. Nothing too interesting so far, maybe a few interesting stories. Like the kid that came and sat by me at lunch one day who talked for about half an hour about the Battle of Saratoga (turning point of the revolutionary war where if Benedict Arnold had been killed rather than just wounded he would have been hailed as a hero!) and the percentages of black and hispanic males that don't have fathers in the home and drop out of high school (single biggest factor leading to gang activity!) and the difference between AP and IB credits (one is standardized throughout America and is accepted by US school [like byu!] but the other is more accepted internationally but not so much in America!). After this speech complete with quotes, facts, and percentages he got up and said "ok." then turned and left. It was a good time. Did I mention he was about 5'1'' and wearing some sweet high waters? Haha, it was very funny, but it was nice of him to come and sit by me. It was truly entertaining.

Social activity is up about 90%, however I am seriously lacking in the male department. Boyz is st00pid. That was for you Michael :). But seriously, the cute guys are idiots. It's a cryin' shame. The boys in my ward are immensely nerdy except for one Cole whose parents are friends with ours and I made friends with him. GASP! A BOY! No worries, he has a girlfriend and we're just friends. Please, it's not like a boy would actually like me. Only one has asked for my number and about 5 minutes later there was a Facebook friend request from him, which is interesting because I never said my last name and surely I'm not the only Rebekah at BYU. There is one guy that is fairly cute though who I think might ask me out. More updates to come.

My dorm is fine. Marvelously decorated, might I add. My roommates are nice too, I like them all. Actually all the normal girls ended up in the same two rooms, haha, which is nice for us. There are some other nice girls in the hall I'm sure, but we just haven't really met them yet. SHOUTOUT: Feel free to come visit whenever you want! Maybe I can even sneak somebody into the cannon center and say that they're my parents. Parents get one free meal. Interested in a free lunch tomorrow, Matt? I know your job in like 3 minutes away. There's no hiding.

Classes started today, they looked good, although I am SERIOUSLY DREADING school. UGH. Eh, ok, I'm done writing. Pictures and other fun stuff to come soon!

Welcome to the world Zuma!

I don't really follow celebrity stuff but I just happened to stumble across this little bit of info and decided to give it a post. Gwen Stefani and her....husband? boyfriend? who know, had a baby boy the other day. They lovingly named it "Zuma Nesta Rock". That's right. And that's not even including his last name of Rossdale. I have a feeling that this kid is going to be majorly messed up. I read in this news article that "Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale 'have proven decisively that they're masters in choosing names that are both highly unusual and carry a lot of personal meaning'".

I think I should carry out their tradition and start picking some names for my future kids that are "both highly unusual and carry a lot of personal meaning". Hmmm...let's see....my favorite teacher was, of course, the INCREDIBLE Karen Ferris-Fearnside, so the first of the first names could be Fearn....yeah that's good. And for the second name maybe E, becuase that's where i first read about Zuma. But that's too normal, we'll have to spell it weird. Ieei should work. The I's are silent. I'm running out of steam here so I'll add a random name from a country I know nothing about. Ghanna should suffice. And now to top it off a completely normal word used entirely out of context, something to do with nature would be best. Oh, Cacti! Perfect! Fearn Ieei Ghanna Cacti. It's BEAUTIFUL. I think I know how stars do it now! And mom, get excited to have a grandchild named Fearn in, oh say, about 7 years!

Boredom overcomes me...

Bleeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I don't even know what to write. I'm so bored. Sitting at home looses its appeal somewhat when you do it everyday. Don't get me wrong, I love summer, it wins over going to school everyday, but this summer is particularly...unique. If this were summer back in NY my days would probably go a little something like this:

9:00-Wake up
9:00-9:30-Be goofy and annoying at mom
9:30-10:00-Eat breakfast while either watching TV or reading Archie
10:00-12:00-Read/watch TV/hang around on internet, perhaps talk to Rachel online
12:00-12:30-Eat lunch
12:30-3ish-Swim
3:00-5ish-Lay outside, dry off, read
5:00-6:00-Eat dinner
6:00-10:00-Whatever.

Anyway, I think you guys got the gist. But in our neighborhood here the going outside is a little out of the picture. When you're laying in your backyard here you're also laying in about 3 others yards at the same time. Theres also a constant stream of kids, construction workers, and mexicans riding giant lawnmowers going by. So not exactly the same about of privacy as 14 acres. That constricts my summer day options to watching tv, reading, and surfing the internet inside. I can't find any good books to read, and the internet is shockingly boring. As you can see, the sitting at home gets a little dull. However, painting gets old even faster than sitting at home. So anyway, this was a really long way of saying "I'm bored". I really don't have anything to say. I'm bored.

I'm getting my schedule figured out. It's quite the schedule. I've got ballet everyday at I think 9-10:30, then American Heritage MWF 11:11:50, then Modern everyday 12-1, then English 150 from I think 2-3 on MWF and BOM same time TTH and World Dance TH night at like 5. It's like my whole day is going back and forth from the Richard's building. It'll be a workout.

Ok, I have officially nothing else to say. But I made a post about my life, which I haven't done for a while. It was due. Too bad nothing interesting is going on. Oh yeah, one last thing, Freshman orientation is the 27-31. I can move in on the 27th but orientation doesn't really start until friday. School starts Sept. 2. Ok, that's it. Good night!

Deja Vu

A while ago, maybe in February or so, I made a post about this INCREDIBLE music video. The song is 1-2-3-4 by Feist and it's fairly awesome. Feist was on Sesame Street a while ago and sang a slightly different version of the song. I thought it was pretty cute. And by the way, if you haven't seen that music video, check it out pronto because it's the coolest thing ever.

Sorry folks, it's an awkward one.

There are so many wacky things on the internet. I like to make fun of them on my blog. Today, I found this lovely site called Lilypie that makes "baby tickers". They have an EXCELLENT selection. Some of the tickers include due date countdowns, countdowns to children's birthdays (mine is featured on the right!), and a countdown until you get your adopted child. They really have a "ticker" for every need, including this one below.

Lilypie 21 - 37 day cycle Ticker

That's right. This one is called the "trying to conceive ticker". It's a great idea on how to let everyone know when you are going to be, ahem, ovulating, and will next be having, ahem, sex. Classy.

P.S. I put in random dates. Awkward.

Boredom on the B-day

I would like everyone to notice that fabulous date of the top of this post. More about today to come soon. And by soon, probably never, like all my other posts I promise :) I was bored and so I did the google game. Here are the results!

Rebekah needs to break out the work-out dates with Sven (True!)
Rebekah looks like a real wild child that has no inhibitions about life
Rebekah Does Cartwheels on Ice Skates (False.)
Rebekah hates early mornings (True. Seminary = death)
Rebekah goes through another separation
Rebekah has gone to sleep in Daddy's arms
Rebekah loves thinking about the temple (so I found this pretty ironic, it's from the friend. Who would've thunk?)
Rebekah eats nightcrawlers and spiders (only sometimes)

Now brace yourself for this one. It's what came up, ok?

Rebekah has always wanted to work in the porn industry and loves her job as an assistant for an amateur porn production company (false..p.s. you don't click on the sites that come up :) and anyway, this was from mtv)
Rebekah died in Canaan and was buried in the Cave of Machpelah (ironic that the bible one came right after the porn one...)
Rebekah will work to increase funding and improve the quality of our public (as always)

There. Boredom quenched. I hope you enjoyed it.

Blog makeover

So I changed my background yet again. I like making my blog look cute more than I like posting :) But I'll try to post a little more often, I'll make it my pioneer day resolution. HAPPY PIONEER DAY, Y'ALL! Yep, I am enjoying my first official pioneer day. The only other pioneer day celebration I've had was in primary in Tennessee when we wore paper bags and other cheap pioneer costumes and walked around the gym at church. I think it was fun but I can't guarantee anything because my memories as a 4 year old aren't too clear. There was a neighborhood pancake breakfast that we went to this morning and that was good and we're having a picnic later on.

I've been working on an official post for a couple of days now, but I'm not too keen on blogging at the moment so I'll write like a few sentences every couple of days and then decide I don't like what I've written and erase a couple of sentences, so needless to say I'm not getting too far. I'll work on that post. But anyway, yes, I am alive and I will be posting more soon. But in the meantime, if anyone wants a cute new background for their blog, I know a very bored 16 year old who likes to do that :)

Just a few new things...

Ok, here are a few things that have happened recently that I think are worth blogging about.

1. Benefits from going to a poor school. So mom actually mentioned this on her blog, but in my last week of school it was soooo hot! We don't have air conditioning at school because we don't have money for it, ha, so one day it was over 100 (well, I think it was in the 90's but NY has insane humidity, who needs a pool in NY when you have this humidity?) and we got out of school early! It was a lovely free half day and probably the most fun day of school I've had. We didn't do anything in class and almost all of our teachers took us down to the cafeteria which is air conditioned so I got to be with my friends all day. Go heat!

2. Bizarre freakish events. So about one night last week I lost my contact (Fun fact! I currently have the worst eyesight in my family!) so the next morning I just opened up a new contact. Then later that day I was in the bathroom putting on makeup for some reason and I was talking to mom and I looked down and my contact that I lost was right on my finger! It was so funny and bizarre, it was on my index finger exactly like I was going to put in on my eye. It was so random, haha.

3. Heart breaker. So I thought this was way funny. In one block of econ I got asked out by three separate guys. They actually all asked me out by text message, ha ha. Classy. I did not go out with any of them :) What a man eater!! Actually, I didn't say no to any of them, two I just didn't have time for, like we couldn't find a time that worked before I left. It was so weird because I've only gone out on a total of 2 official dates and then all at one time I got asked out by three.

Ok! That's all! I'll see all you utah folks in a week! And all you New Yorkers I'll see you as much as possible before I leave!!!

Happenings....(this post really isn't that long)

Well, school is just about over!!! I had my last final today and then on monday I have a stupid half day where I won't do anything, but I'm going to go anyway. Then I just have 3 regents (ugh) and then graduation!! So anyway here's a little update on my life with some glorious pictures to accompany it.

I had my last Brit Lit class yesterday. That class has been great, I made a lot of friends in it. We had a fancy Scottish Robert Burns' Day dinner and it was so fun. Some friends and I made a huge sugar cookie in the shape of Great Britain for it the night before. Here are some pictures from the dinner and from the cookie making. P.S. for all you Harry Potter nerds out there (RACHEL) I was going to mix up butterbeer for it but we didn't actually have it so I'll have to make some soon and tell you how it was. Maybe when we come to see you in like 2 WEEKS!<--Our banquet table
Us making the cookies, Jared and Carolyn aren't in the class though by the way

Burnt Hills had a flag day parade and fireworks last night. The parade was....Burnt Hills sized. If you know what I mean :) It was fun though. Here are some pictures from that.

Ok that's all I feel like posting. BYE!

Photos

Well there are cute new photos of Abby and Preston up which means that I have that same almost maternal instinct like need to edit them. Here you go. I think they're pretty cute, I just kind of cropped them and played around with the coloring and contrast and stuff. Enjoy! And give me any tips if you have them too. I want them, I won't be offended :)

This one is cropped, washed out, and I softened the edges too. Here's that same photo switched to a gray gradient. P.S. I have no idea if I'm saying any of that right, ha ha.

Ok, so I wrote this post before I went to a 7 HOUR dress rehearsal for two recitals I'm in this week (videos coming soon!) and I hadn't edited Preston's yet but I'm not really in a photoshopping mood so SORRY PRESTON! I'll get around to it soon. Rob--your pictures of Abby were so cute and so good for editing! And Amy, the pictures are way way way way cute by the way, I love them, mom and I practically went into convulsions when we saw them!!!!! And Nicole too, WAY TO GO ON THE FIRST POSTS!!! I'm going to make a post about them too. Wow, what a shout out! And I'd also like to thank everyone else I know for making this blog possible ha corny.

An overabundance of MAGIC!

The most magical and mystical night of our LIVES was last weekend. Prom, of course! And I'm being sarcastic of course :) But prom was really fun, I liked it a lot. Well I liked being with my friends a lot, the whole prom was kind of nasty. Gross dresses, gross picture poses, and lots of good ol' grinding!!! Isn't it hilarious how kids spend hundreds of dollars to look all formal and then manage to act completely un-classy in every way possible??? Well anyway, it was really fun though. I went with my friend Matt, aka, Habenglaben. I should probably give more details about the actual night but I don't really feel like typing that much so if you're just DYING to know how it was you can call me. But a pictures is worth a thousand words supposedly so here is a smörgåsbord of some pictures of it and after you look at these you'll know about 5,000 words about prom which is pretty much every detail about it imaginable, if you're keeping up with my philisophicalness. You can see a lot more good pictures from the whole night in my Picasa album.

I'm a poor decision maker so I need you to make them for me!

Ok this is an involved blog, so you have to read it and COMMENT! So prom is tomorrow and I need your help deciding about my jewelry. I was going to ask for help on the makeup too, but I think I have that all figured out. So I got these really pretty earrings that I like and then i also found a necklace that goes well too. But I can't decide if I should wear just the earrings or just the necklace or both. So here's the dress:And here's the hair. We forgot to take a picture of the back so here's a pic of what it's supposed to look like:
I don't have any good pictures of the makeup though. Ok and here is the real question. With just earrings?(sorry blurry)See the first two pictures for just the necklace. Or both necklace and earrings....will it look like too much??Soooo...what do you think? Any other comments or suggestions about the dress, hair, etc???

Funniest thing ever

This video is absolutely hilarious! A model falls twice so keep your eyes on her. It gets better every time you watch it. Enjoy!

Ahhh....vacations are great :)

This post really isn't as long as it looks :)

So two weeks ago we went to Utah for spring break and that was tres enjoyable. You can see some cute pictures from that on mom's blog. Then I got back and went to Disney World on a music trip. Our Concert band, Jazz band, orchestra, concert choir, and select choir all went. I loved spending some good ol' quality time with friends and getting to know some better like my friend Matt aka HABENGLABEN, who is probably the coolest individual I know.

We left after school last Thursday and embarked on a wonderful 24 hour drive to Disney. The drive was actually kind of fun, but the best part was probably seeing girls without their makeup, ha, suckers :) We got there around 4 pm on friday and checked into our resort. It was Coronado Springs right inside Disney and was really cool and then we went to Epcot. Me and my friends only really got to go on one "ride" but Epcot isn't really known for it's rides, ha. We also got to watch their fireworks that night and they were pretty cool.

The next day was our competition at Universal Studios at the hard Rock Live Theater. We had to watch all of our groups perform so it was kind of a long day. We only had time for two rides at Universal, which was sad. That night was the awards ceremony where each of our groups one first prize in our class because apparently we were the only ones in the AAA size, ha. But our band and jazz band won best overall because they are AWESOME. Honestly, they are so good.

Sunday we performed at the dock stage at downtown disney. We had a big group breakfast at the Blues brother place and it was really really fun. Around 1 we went to Magic Kingdom and the jazz band got to perform at a cafe on a rising stage because, as previously mentioned, they are fantastic. We got to go to a lot of rides at Magic Kingdom plus we got to see the Parade of Lights and their incredible fireworks that night. The rides at Magic Kingdom actually aren't that scary or intense, but they were still fun.

The next day we went to MGM (now called Hollywood Studios i guess) and that was SO FUN! I got to hang out with a lot of my friends that day (and I realized that all my friends are guys--it was a group of 12 guys and then me and megan, ha). MGM has the coolest roller coasters, they were so fun!!! The most fun to me though was Aerosmith's Rockin' Roller Coaster. It was AMAZING! You were in a car at a stoplight on your way to an Aerosmith concert and all the sudden the light turns green and you go from 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds. It was incredible! Then you went straight into a corkscrew and then some dips and stuff and another corkscrew, it was so fun. We also went on the Tower of Terror and that was really fun too. They dropped us four times, it was so cool. And you don't know when you're going to get dropped so all the sudden you're just flying down. Awesome. We saw some other shows and stuff there. Then that afternoon we boarded our lovely coach buses for the 24 drive back home. The ride was actually kind of fun. Here are some pictures from our trip:

A Reign of TERROR

WARNING: CONTAINS SOME GRAPHIC ZIT IMAGES AND DESCRIPTIONS. NOT FOR THE WEAK STOMACHED.

I now have some new possible career paths. Being doubles for both the Crimson Chin AND Cleft the Boy Chin Wonder.
I have a KILLER PIMPLE on my chin. Now, I'd like you to think back on your teenage years and reflect on what your biggest zit was. I am willing to bet at least $5 that I can top it. I woke up yesterday, feelingly strangely chin-tastic. In my early morning drowsiness I innocently reached up to my chin, groping around for the source this strange sensation was. What I felt was not my chin. It could have easily been mistaken for a monster truck or an atomic bomb.I had, in fact, become the Crimson Chin. Under the skin on the left side of my chin was a pimple with the approximately radius of a nickel and the height of a pencil eraser. The sucker hadn't surfaced so it wasn't red and didn't have a head....yet. It just laid there menacingly under my skin, ready to strike at any moment. Such a merciless monster, refusing to even show its face (head?) and fight like a man. By the end of the day at school I had been contacted by the Guinness Book Of World Records. Ok, so the last sentence wasn't true, but it could have been. It was hard to get a good picture of it because it's not red so I just had to try and get good angles. This is the best picture I could find. Keep in mind, this photo does NOT do it justice. Here you can somewhat see how I now have a cleft chin.
Update: The above post was written two days ago and here is the most recent news on my pimple.

--Day two of the pimple's reign: I have decided to name my pimple Mount Olympus after the mountain in the sky where the Greek gods came from. I chose this name both because Mt. Olympus is supposed to be the largest mountain ever and also because this pimple is worthy of an Olympic gold medal, if the had a zit competition, which they really should consider adding to the venue. Olympus didn't decrease much in size but got red. Still no sign of a head.

--Day three of Mt. Olympus' stay on my face: A head has started to form. The diameter has decreased some, it's probably about the size of a dime now. It appears to be putting all of it's energy into pushing its way to the surface for a surprise attack.

--Day four: With it's fully formed monstrous head and pus bubbling angrily under the surface, it could have exploded at any moment at school today. My father describes it as being big and bright enough to force a truck off the road. My self esteem drops a few points. At school, people looked around nervously whenever I entered the room and tried to stay as far away as possible in case of an eruption. The superintendent considers going into a lock down. I luckily make it home without causing any major disasters. It's time for the battle to begin. After thoroughly sanitizing Mt. Olympus and my hands I hook myself up to an IV in case I don't make it. My mother wants to watch this momentous occasion. I take a deep breath and brace myself. With shaking fingers I begin to squeeze. The explosion was....pretty graphic. The pus just kept coming! My mother's excessive cringing and exclamations of, "EW!" force her to leave the room trembling. After just a few minutes of waging war on my chin, it's all over. I exit the bathroom triumphant, however exhausted. Now it's healing time. Thankfully, the IV was not necessary.

--Day five: The aftermath this horrible war is quite apparent on my face. Luckily though, it's Saturday so people are spared from looking at my grotesque and deformed chin.

--Day six, aka TODAY: It's a modern medical miracle. Mt. Olympus has receded in shame. I knew I would win. Although still somewhat red, it is in the realm of being able to be covered up. The results are truly astonishing. The reign of terror is over on my face. The sun is shining and it's time for a new day. Best of all, Mt. Olympus won't be forever immortalized in the upcoming family pictures. Hallelujah.

Another post? So soon??

I know, all of my faithful readers (pretty much Rachel and my mom) must be in ecstasy. This makes 3 posts in 3 days. Well, I feel that I simply have to post about this one. So I went to the movies 2 weeks ago (with a BOY might I add) and this was one of the previews. We just at the screen, horrified. I thought that there was no other movie which could replace League of Extraordinary Gentlemen at the top of the world's list of most horrible movies. I don't even need to see this movie, the preview was bad enough. Here's a clue, its title is Prom Night. YEP! It's a movie about PROM. Oh and not any old movie, it's a prom SLASHER movie. You'll just have to watch it for yourselves.

P.S. Be sure to read my last two posts under this one about my blog being private and April Fool's day!

[password protected]

Ha ha, that title makes me feel very geeky and socially awkward, like a J-Lao type but I'm keeping it anyway :) So I made my blog private. I got a weird text message yesterday that freaked me out. It came at 6:00 during seminary and it said,
"Have I got your attention? Good. :) Now shut up and listen to the teacher--you might learn something life-changing. Exit Sandman. P.S. I mean no harm but you really should listen in class." and it had attached to it the song "Don't Fear the Reaper".
I also got a picture message too but I couldn't open it. I asked all the kids at seminary and they said it wasn't from them and I don't recognize the number. It could have been a mistake or was from someone I know or something. Still, it freaked me out, so I went home and made my blog private. Plus, two of the blogs have gotten spam comments. Anyway, now you have to sign in to view it. I know, it's a pain, I'm sorry. But it's probably much safer. And I'll probably eventually switch it back too, ha ha.

P.S. Don't forget to scroll down and read my April Fool's post!

WOW! AN EXCITING NEW POST!!!!

Just kidding! April Fool's! I really have nothing good to say :) Only one kid attempted to play a trick on me today, unless the school was kidding when they announced that prom tickets were $70...outrageous. The prankster said to me, "You have a rip in your pants" and then I awkwardly laughed and we backed away from each other slowly as to not startle the other, similar to dogs. After getting pranked by gmail (google likes to play April Fool's jokes, they're pretty cute) I decided to look up the best April Fool's jokes. I found this list online of the Top 100 April Fool's Day Hoaxes of All Time. If you have time you can read them all, but here is a list of some of my favorites:

#1: The Swiss Spaghetti Harvest
spaghetti harvest In 1957 the respected BBC news show Panorama announced that thanks to a very mild winter and the virtual elimination of the dreaded spaghetti weevil, Swiss farmers were enjoying a bumper spaghetti crop. It accompanied this announcement with footage of Swiss peasants pulling strands of spaghetti down from trees. Huge numbers of viewers were taken in. Many called the BBC wanting to know how they could grow their own spaghetti tree. To this the BBC diplomatically replied that they should "place a sprig of spaghetti in a tin of tomato sauce and hope for the best."

#4: The Taco Liberty Bell
Taco Liberty BellIn 1996 the Taco Bell Corporation announced that it had bought the Liberty Bell and was renaming it the Taco Liberty Bell. Hundreds of outraged citizens called the National Historic Park in Philadelphia where the bell was housed to express their anger. Their nerves were only calmed when Taco Bell revealed, a few hours later, that it was all a practical joke. The best line of the day came when White House press secretary Mike McCurry was asked about the sale. Thinking on his feet, he responded that the Lincoln Memorial had also been sold. It would now be known as the Ford Lincoln Mercury Memorial.

Ok, this next one is funny because I distinctly remember hearing this one twice and believing it, first in the car on the way to school when I was about 10. I don't remember if it was April Fool's day or not. The second time was my freshman year in Earth Science. My earth science teacher taught it and definitely thought it was true. I didn't know it was fake until I read this. I'll have to go see him tomorrow about this....

#46: Retrobreeding the Woolly Mammoth
In 1984 Technology Review published an article titled "Retrobreeding the Woolly Mammoth" that described an effort by Soviet scientists to bring the woolly mammoth species back from extinction. The technique being used was the insertion of DNA from woolly mammoths found frozen in Siberian ice into elephant cells. The cells were then brought to term inside surrogate elephant mothers. The head of the project was said to be Dr. Sverbighooze Yasmilov. The story was widely reported as a factual event.

#77: MITkey Mouse
MIT Mickey Mouse On April 1, 1998 the homepage of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology announced some startling news: the prestigious university was to be sold to Walt Disney Co. for $6.9 billion. A photograph of the university's famous dome outfitted with a pair of mouse ears accompanied the news. The press release explained that the university was to be dismantled and transported to Orlando where new schools would be added to the campus including the School of Imagineering, the Scrooge McDuck School of Management, and the Donald Duck Department of Linguistics. The fact that the announcement appeared on MIT's homepage added official credibility to it. But in fact, the announcement was the work of students who had hacked into the school's central server and replaced the school's real web page with a phony one.

Ok, that's about all that I feel like posting. You can go to the site to read more, there are some really good ones like Big Ben going digital, etc. I have an excrutiatingly large pimple on the side of my mouth. It's taking over my face like some sort of monster. That, unfortunately, is no joke. Many people asked me about it to see if it was real. It's probably a result of the Kefir. Also, it's 63 degrees out. But that's probably an April Fool's joke too because it's going to go back to being like 30's again and it snowed this weekend. "I bet you THOUGHT you were going to have summer this year. Ha, ha! April Fool's!" Stupid mother nature....
