The Comms department sent out an email to all of the Comms students today concerning lost and found items. I hope you enjoy it as much as me and Hallie did. It really shows how special both the Comms students and administrators are.

Dear Comms students,

We have a few things in our office that we will turn into the WILK if they are not claimed. Here is a brief list of what we have:

1. A Wrist Watch (if you can tell us the brand, and describe what it looks like, it’s yours. It’s a nice watch, otherwise I’d tell you more about it – Found during the Summer, I think)

2. Two small keys that look like they belong to a small bike lock or something of that nature. They are connected to a bracelet with a rhinestone “CTR” on it (Found over the summer—a while ago).

3. Beaded lady bug coin purse (if you can tell us what’s inside, we’ll know it’s yours – found 10/5)

4. Bus Pass (tell us your name, and if it matches the bus pass we found, it’s yours. – found 12/7)

Due to the monetary value of some items, PLEASE be honest in coming to look for your items.

Absurd!!

Even though this is the busiest 2 weeks of school and I'm completely freaking out, I still took the time to complete the 122 question sorting hat quiz that Hallie sent to me. This is what we do at school. AND I GOT SLYTHERIN.

This weekend I officially broke my record (4 in 4) with 5 dates in 3 days, baby! I didn't have to feed myself a single meal from lunch Thursday to dinner Sunday, including breakfasts! It was awesome! Nothing too serious with anyone obviously, but it was just a lot of fun, a really good weekend. I love this dating thing! I feel like it's really helped me realize that I can get along with just about anyone and be a lot more comfortable with people and have a ton of fun. I love meeting new people and I've gone out with some of the coolest guys. I've gone on dozens of dates this semester, but I have yet to go out on a bad date! BYU is awesome, so many great (and freaking good looking!) people, and being off campus is amazing.

In the spirit of thanksgiving, I am SO grateful that I get to go to BYU. This semester has been probably the most fun time of my life. I had this fantasy of BYU life since Rob first came to college here when I was 5, but when I came here I found that my BYU life wasn't quite what I had imagined for the past 12 years. Honestly, the problem was probably at least 85% myself. But this is the first semester where I finally understand why BYU is SO great. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I love the people here, I love being around good LDS kids, I love learning about people, I love getting to know people, I love learning about people and myself, I love growing, and I love going to school and learning. I'm sad that the semester is ending, it's been one of the happiest times of my life, but I am very excited for next semester. Thanks so much, Mom and Dad for letting me be here!

We call our landlord all the time to come and fix things that break in our apartment, like when our blinds crashed to the floor randomly one night. Anyway, we figure it's getting tedious for him, so I decided to mix things up a little when I emailed him today about our lights.

Yesterday the fluorescent light went out in our kitchen. Both of the bulbs went out at once so we're not sure if it's the bulbs or the whole fixture. Anyway, it would be great if you could come soon to fix it.

It is dark and I'm scared.

I hope you think this is as hilarious as I think it is...

So I have a goal of trying to post more often this year, given that I have at least marginally interesting things to post about--which is a pretty big risk.

I'm back in school. School's fine. My apartment's fine. My roommates are fine. My ward is fine. That's about all there is to say there. Let's see....

School: I have class from 9-4 MW, no class on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and one class on Friday. Pretty good, right? They're all general eds and pretty boring. Except my graphic design class, which should be cool but I'm a little nervous about. The graphic design majors in that class are all pretty snooty. I don't know how Rob made it through BYU's art program and retain his sanity.

Apartment: It's okay. Fairly roomy, some furniture is nice, others are pretty crappy. The paint on the walls is pretty chipped, but it's really not that bad.

Roommates: I'm in a room with my freshman roommate Hallie, then there are two other girls that she knew-Morgan and Angela. They both seem nice.

Ward: I've been to two activities and not a sunday, but they all seem fairly normal. Not much to say there!

I have a 100.3 percent in my Media Writing class at BYU. No, I didn't get a hundred on every assignment, but I got 25 points of extra credit from winning an in-class contest (thanks to Rachel for a little help there!) which made up for any points I lost on my other assignments. This is a miracle. The church is true. :)

I just wish I could keep it that way! I have 4 more assignments that I don't know my grade on yet, plus a final. I only have one extra credit point left to spare, so I'm pretty positive it won't stay that high, but oh well. I made a little history in my book!

A little treasure from Kentucky.

A few funny things.

1) What is that foreign cylindrical object? Does anyone know? I feel as if I once knew what it was, but it is now just a distant memory....Yes, we have been out of toilet paper for 5 days now. 5 DAYS. Someone has been refilling it with huge piles of napkins from our kitchen. It's like wiping with 1 ply, but even worse. At least the blue napkins turn green when you use them, that's pretty cool. But, I will not fold!! I am not buying anymore freaking TP for this apartment. Even though we designated months for buying TP at the beginning of the year, I have become the official "Toilet Paper Refiller", a much esteemed title. I don't even know how many rolls I have bought so that these lazy girls can wipe their bottoms. But no more!! I will not buy it this month. I think I'm just going to steal a roll from home and keep it safe in my closet for my own use. In fact, 227 has become the Mooch-Off-Of-Rebekah apartment. Come one, come all! Guess who refills when we run out of dish soap, flour, sugar, salt, toilet paper, hand soap. Guess who is the only one who does their dishes and put them in the dishwasher on their designated day (well, okay, Sarah H. does too). I used to leave my hand towel hanging up in the bathroom, but now it is completely brown and covered in makeup and....blood. Yes, someone wiped their nasty blood on one of my white hand towels. So my towels are now locked in my closet. I also removed all my cute polka dotted dishes from the drawer because people kept walking into our apartment and taking them!! They would literally walk in and take them and use them in their apartment! One of my dishes is in a random boy in Shipe hall's apartment because a girl brought a cake over to him on MY plate. I've never even been to Shipe hall, but now I have to go there to retrive my last missing plate. Were these girls raised by apes????? AUGH!
I took this picture in the beginning of the year when I thought this was messy. Yeah, that looks neat now. If my camera had battery, I would take a picture of that, and the 5 garbage bags piled in the hallway that no one will take out.

2. Someone compared gun laws to secret combinations to me last night. I laughed. 10 points if you guess who it was that told me that! Well actually, only 5, it's not that hard to guess. Who likes guns, church, and is a crazy conservative....

3. Also, we watched this in advertising. This was filmed in one shot, it took 606 trys. It's awesome!

I'm in an advertising and mass media class now, and they're so cool! Advertising is really fun. For that class we have to keep up a blog and post about something advertising related every week, so I'm using that as an excuse for my decline in blogging. Anyway, here's a freaky video from my advertising class. Both my mass media and my Ad class talk a ton about social media Social media is changing how mass media, and eventually, how the world works. It's a little bit ridiculous how fast the world is changing. In fact, how social media and the internet and other things are changing media is starting a bit of a panic in the media/communications/advertising world. Newspapers are bombing out, stores (even big box stores, ex: where the heck did all the big box technology stores go [except Best Buy--survival of the fittest]?? Circuit City?? Dead and gone. Borders and Barnes and Noble are starting to struggle) are turning online and dying, even books are becoming slightly obsolete. Television is even starting to decline. Of course, some things will never change, like print books will never entirely disappear, neither will brick and mortar stores. But things are changing fast via internet and social media.
